Building Date: 2011
Merrion Square, Dublin 2
Cruth Curach is the result of Craftitecture: a design competition run by the Crafts Council of Ireland and the Irish Architecture Foundation to celebrate Ireland’s Year of Craft. Using the form of currachs, the pavilion moves on horizontal and vertical axes to form an open space when in use and a sculptural form when closed. The pavilion is conceived by Bucholz McEvoy Architects and Jim Horgan, master boat builder and fabricated with the help of ITS Global.
