Ireland’s Biggest Architecture Festival

How It Works

Open House Dublin 2011 happened between 7 - 9 October.

What will I find when I get to an Open House Dublin building/event?
At each building/event, there will be an Open House Dublin volunteer, clearly visible by their Open House Dublin jacket. They will greet you, direct you to the next available tour and provide you with any information you need about visiting that particular building. Hundreds of professionals and enthusiasts generously volunteer their time over the weekend, including architects, planners, students and more, and in recognition of their role, their volunteer jacket enables them to gain priority access to buildings (apart from pre-book buildings and events). Where possible, the building tour is led by an architect who worked on that particular building, and if not, generally by an architect or person very familiar with the building. They will be sharing their expertise, but they're keen to dialogue with you too, so don't forget to give them your feedback!

Entry
Admission is FREE for all Open House Dublin events. Entry for more than 75% of tours and events is on a first-come basis. Buildings will be open on the day and time specified in the Open House Dublin publication and on this website. Please note that each building's opening, security arrangements and refusal of entry are controlled by building owners. Participation in events is at your own risk. The Irish Architecture Foundation has taken all reasonable care to verify the information provided and cannot accept responsibility for any variation from the details published here. Please respect building owners and their privacy, and be mindful of photo-taking.

Pre-booking
Though the vast majority of Open House Dublin tours and events operate on a first-come basis, some buildings/events will require prebooking. In the category, area, and event pages,  you will see a dot in the Pre-Book column. On the page showing the event or tour, there will be a ‘Book Now’ button at the bottom right. Simply select your tour, the number of attendees (maximum 4) and click the ‘Book Now’ button. Then just enter your details (or your email and password if you have booked before) and your booking will be stored.

In certain cases, booking does not happen on this site, but instead it is directly through the building. The contact details are given alongside the listing information. Pre-booking opens in the run up to Open House Dublin. Events requiring pre-booking can be reserved online, by phone or in person - see details below. Spaces are limited and are strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, and for a specific time. As places on these tours are restricted and scarce, please ensure that you attend if you have booked. The Irish Architecture Foundation regrets that we cannot guarantee availability of places.
